PTSA Program - Parents and Teens: A Plan for Successful Dating
Tuesday, February 9, at Jasper High School at
7:00 p.m.
PTSA General Meeting begins at 6:45 p.m.
Figuring out how to be
in romantic relationships is one of the most fun and frustrating parts
of being a teen.
"Seems like sex is everywhere! What am I supposed to do?"
"My heart is broken. How come it didn't turn out like I'd hoped?"
"This is so great...I can hardly believe it's me!"
With so much to think about, join us as we consider how parents and kids
can work together for the teen's successful dating. Encourage your teen
to join you for this program!
A Night at the Oscars – The Jasper School Party
Saturday, February 13, 2010

This party is sure to be the talk of school in February – so make plans to attend! Come alone, bring a date, or come with friends. There is sure to be something for every Jasper student.

a guest of the Oscars or your favorite movie star. Attire is semi-formal
– you decide what that means!
Not sure what to do with your coat, purse, or shoes? No problem - leave them in a secure location at the Coat Check!

Would you like to have some input into when your child starts
school?
Sign the online petition!
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/txschoolstartdate/
The petition simply states:
I support local control of the school calendar.
The current statute that mandates a uniform school start date should be
repealed, or at a minimum, the waiver process should be reinstituted.
Parents, school staff and residents of our communities should be able to
help select a school calendar that works best toward addressing their
communities' concerns and enables their students to achieve the highest
academic success possible.
How to Save a Life
When a teen commits suicide, everyone is affected. Family
members, friends, teammates, neighbors, and sometimes even those who
didn't know the teen well might experience feelings of grief, confusion,
guilt — and the sense that if only they had done something differently,
the suicide could have been prevented.
It's important to understand the forces that can lead teens to suicide
and to know how to help. Click here for more information.

Jasper Caring and Compassion Committee
The Jasper PTSA has a Caring and Compassion Committee
that helps families in our community who are in crisis. Thankfully
the committee's assistance is rarely needed but we are always ready
to help.
We recently began helping one of our staff's families. The
teacher's young daughter was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning
of the school year and the family is very busy with meeting all of
their daughter's medical needs, work, and raising a family. To ease
some of the family's burdens the PTSA is organizing meals for the
family.
If you would like information on how you can help this family by
bringing them dinner one evening, please contact Amy Newell at
